There are so many kinds of Swing. I'm Confused?

Swing is the Modern catch all word for music derived from Lindy

So if you are trying to decide if Swing is right for you, just understand that Swing is the music and the dances (Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Balboa, Jive, Rock & Roll, Boogie Woogie, and Westie) describe the styles that dancers choose. Just like you pick clothes appropriate for an event, choose the kind of music that you like to listen too and a teacher can tell you the style that will work best. Some styles work to really slow Swing, others to really fast Swing. Currently, the most popular style is the West Coast Swing. It works to most music from the 1950’s to current pop or even Hip Hop. Lindy for example would be the choice for people who like the Big Band sound of the 40s as far back as the dances of the 1920’s like the Charleston. Jitterbug would work best to the late 50s and so on.
